Hardcover, red cloth over boards with title and illustration blindstamped on the cover. Title in gilt to the spine. Good plus condition. 243 pages. Text in English.

The most celebrated of the classical Japanese romances translated by Suematsz Kenchio who was secretary to the Public Works, to the Council of State, and to the War Department, and an attache to the Japanese Legation in London.

Covers show wear and soiling but are generally quite clean. Small chip out of the side edge of the front board. Spine very much sunned and also shows the remains of a sticker to the tail. There are no library markings to the interior of the book so one could assume that this is not an ex-library copy. Inside covers and endpapers show very light discolouration. Light scattered foxing throughout the book. Some pages show underlining and notes in Japanese characters in both red pen and in pencil. Otherwise quite a clean copy. Good plus condition.
