Jack Kerouac - Big Sur
Farrar, Strauss and Cudahy, New York, USA. First Edition. 1962.
The hero of 'Big Sur' Jack Duloz experiences a crisis of mind and spirit; it is the crackup of the "bloody King of the Beatniks". Pursued by reporters, visitors, and hangers-on, Duloz knows he must "make one fast move or I'm gone". So he goes to Big Sur to be completely alone in a friend's cabin in a canyon at the edge of the sea.
Hardcover. Good plus condition. 241 pages. Blue paper over boards with black cloth to the spine. Unclipped dustcover shows light soiling but is otherwise still a bright white colour. Rather large tear to the tail of the spine and also to the bottom corner (side edge) of the front cover. Light chipping and a couple of small tears to the head of the spine. Creasing to the bottom area of the front of the dustcover. Light foxing to the inside flap edges, the pastedowns, the end papers and also to the bottom and side edges of the pages. Otherwise the interior of this book is bright and clean. Good plus condition due to the condition of the dustcover.
Quite a rarity.
