Volume Two begins where Volume One left off and cover the pre-World War 2 years. Its "heroes" one might say, are the Spanish Civil War, psychoanalysis, and the houseboat on the Seine in which Miss Nin lived during a part of this periods. There are encounters with Henry Miller, Otto Rank, Lawrence Durrell, Theodore Dreiser, Waldo Frank, Pablu Neruda, Stuart Gilbert, Rebecca West and Denise Clairouin. ( pages of illustrations.

Hardcover. Very good condition. 357 pages. Grey cloth over boards with green cloth the title in gilt to the spine and embossed signature to the front cover. Text in English. Dustcover shows edge wear and chipping. Spine is sunned and quite scuffed to the head and tail. Back cover lightly soiled mainly to the edges. Book itself is reasonably clean with some discolouration to the front and back joints, some light foxing and soiling to the top edge of pages and the board corners are very slightly bumped. Otherwise a very good copy.

Inscribed by Anais Nin in blue ink on the front endpaper as follows - / For Hideo Aoki / my friend and publisher / in memory of pleasant / days together / Anais Nin /.

An interesting association copy. Presumably Hideo Aoki was Anais Nin's Japanese publisher who was responsible for publishing her work here in Japan in the Japanese language.
