Hardcover. 12mo. Very good condition. 329 pages. Green cloth over boards with an illustration and the title in gilt to the front panel and the title in gilt to the spine. Text in English. Very light edgewear to the boards mainly to the edges of the spine. Light spotting to the back board. Spine quite browned. Bookplate to the front pastedown and a brown blemish and initials in black ink to the front endpaper. Front and back hinges starting to split in a couple of small areas although very much still intact. Page edges lightly soiled and browned. Some minor blemishes and soiling to a few of the interior pages. Else a very good copy.

15 b&w illustrations by Henri Lanos as mentioned in the letter by the author.

Signed letter as follows - / arrived 14 of march. / Beach Cottage / Granville Rd / Sandgate. / My dear Sir. / I have thought over your / letter and i shall be pleased to / consent to your translation provided / that copies of the book are sent / to me before Jan 1st 1900. / With regard to the illustrations / i may add to what i have already / said, that Messrs Harpers are / preparing illustrations on a smaller / scale for the book issue. / Most of the pictures m. Lanos / has done seem to me astonishingly / fine, but there is four i do / not admire & these will be / omitted.
