Brown half leather over marbled boards with marbled pastedowns and endpapers. 5 raised bands to the spine with the titles in gilt. 54 full page engravings most of whcih are steel engravings. Vol 1 - 529 pages, Vol 3 - 556 pages, Vol 4 - 555 pages, Vol 4 - 553 pages, Vol 51 - 530 pages. Considerable edgewear and rubbing to the covers. Remains of a bookplate to the front pastedowns. Volumes 1, 4 & 5 lacking front free endpapers. Previous owners stamp to the front and back free endpapers. Light soiling to page edges and some interior pages although mainly to the last few pages of a couple of volumes. A couple of small edgetears to a few books. Else a very good set.
